Amanda Bynes has been inspired by EDM and rap for her music comeback.
The former Amanda Show star is set to release Girlfriend, her first new song in for years, on streaming platforms on Friday (10.04.26) and she has offered a bit of insight into what fans can expect from the track.
She told E! News: "My inspiration was a lot of EDM, as well as rap.”
The 40-year-old actress and singer has collaborated with rapper Fenix Flexin on the song, while she has signed with the Create Music Group label, who have worked with the likes of Jason Derulo and Deadmau5.
The label said in a statement: "GIRLFRIEND blends melodic rap with EDM-inspired production, creating a catchy, high-replay record with a smooth West Coast bounce.
"Built around a strong hook and confident, flirt-heavy energy, it's designed for repeat listens and wide playlist appeal.
"Featuring Fenix Flexin, it taps into a familiar L.A. sound while staying fresh and accessible."
Back in February, Amanda - who previously released rap track Diamonds with then-fiancé Paul Michael in 2022 - teased her return to music.
She had revealed that she and Fenix were working on a "straight fire" collaboration.
The former All That cast member has focused on various art projects in recent years, including an art show and clothing pop-up back in 2024.
A year ago, she also joined OnlyFans as a way to connect with her fans.
She told her Instagram followers at the time: "Disclaimer: I'm doing onlyfans to chat with my fans through dm's.
"I won't be posting any sleazy content. Excited to join. (sic)"
Amanda quit showbiz over a decade ago due to numerous personal problems, including an addiction to the ADHD prescription medication Adderall.
Last year, she revealed she had shed almost 30 pounds after using Ozempic.
She shared a photo of herself to her Instagram Stories in December 2025, and wrote: " usually don’t like paparazzi pictures bc I was 180lbs but now I’ve lost 28lbs on ozempic! I’m down to 152lbs. I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me! (sic)"
